"The Simpsons" Official Web Site

By Nancy Basile, About.com

Welcome Screen: Super fun, and loud, animation of Homer trying to eat his "forbidden donut." Click the page or wait out the animation to be sent to the true home page, an ariel view of Springfield.
Home Page: The home page navigation includes an ariel view of Springfield, as well as text links at the bottom of the page. I was frustrated trying to find links by moving my mouse over buildings in Springfield. I like using the straight-forward text links.
Sections: The sections of the site are fun to look at and explore. The pictures for the menus are drawn specifically for the web site. For instance, Mayor Quimby points to drawers containing bios of the characters, cast and guest stars. There is also an episode guide, store and message board. If you click "This Week" on the home page, you'll see a pop-up window telling you about this week's episode.
News: News about "The Simpsons," such as recent nominations, awards, or upcoming episodes, is usually displayed on a pop-up screen as you reach the home page.
Krusty's Komment: One fun item is called Krusty's Komment. A quote, entered by a fan on the message board, is chosen every week as the Krustiest Komment of the Week. When you click the link, a pop-up window gives you the quote and the username.
Finally: It took literally years and years for Fox to give fans a decent web site. Perhaps they got tired of sending out all those "cease and desist" letters? Whatever the reason, this is a site I like to visit often, always reaching for that "forbidden donut."
